Logistics and Inventory Planner

Reporting to: Head of Warehousing and Logistics

Location: Harrogate

This is a full time position: 8.00am, until 5.00pm Monday to Friday

Salary commensurate with experience

Role Responsibilities

To effectively plan all inbound and outbound logistics for the business. Be the main focal point for the logistical support arm of the company, ensuring all orders are shipped out on time via the most suitable transport solutions in with costs.

Key Responsibilities

Planning and booking of transport for all domestic and international shipments in line with customer requirements. This will be done by utilising key 3PL providers but also working with new providers where required.

Creating reservations for all sales orders (where applicable), focusing on required ship date, but also creating efficiencies by consolidating with other picks for the same product.

Checking all picks have the correct information before sending out to the warehouse team, with strong focus on ensuring all messages are clear and concise to minimise errors.

Registering of all picks, checking all information is correct and informing the customer service/sales teams of which orders need balances collecting or delivery dates confirming.

Ensure that the goods are ready for daily dispatch through the nominated carriers and that their systems are followed to allow detailed tracking and accurate records are maintained.

To provide delivery cost estimates and quotes to the sales team in a timely manner for any deliveries which cannot be obtained through already developed systems.

Meet the demands of the Supply Chain and Logistical procedures through timely completion of all delivery paperwork.

Ensuring all delivery costs are in line with customer charges, and escalating any variances to the Head of Warehouse & Logistics

To review and analyse all outbound freight costs, reacting to any sudden increases, recommending any changes to maintain a consistent spend in line with the company targets.

To recover costs for the loss of products or damages caused by third party delivery companies.

To record KPIs showing all claims raised vs claims recovered.

To manage inbound shipments, ensuring the warehouse team have clear information regarding what is due to arrive, identifying inventory required for sales orders, and flagging any critical items.

Ensuring all inbound deliveries are scheduled in on days/times which have sufficient labour to receipt goods.

To continuously look for and identify improvements that can be made across the department.

To ensure that ever order leaves the premises with a full payment or sufficient credit unless authorised by a Director.

To ensure that every order leaves the premises with correct paperwork.

To record KPIs to show delivery performance of main 3PL providers.             

To manage the yard order book, ensuring what is on the yard matches the order book.

To provide reports to the Head of Warehouse & Logistics showing sales orders on the yard which have exceeded their original expected/requested delivery date.

Ensure that all internal policies are adhered too.

Ensure all administration is kept up to date.

To provide support to the Head of Warehouse and Logistics as required

To work in accordance with the Health and Safety responsibilities set out within the Health and Safety Policy

To contribute towards achieving the corporate goals and strategic aims of the whole business.

Make recommendations for strategic requirements to meet the needs of future business growth

Work side by side with the Customer Service Team to ensure that customer service expectations are exceeded

To have a close relationship with the Fabrication team, ensuring all of their completed works are sent to the warehouse team for packing team, providing accurate information.

To work closely and collaboratively with the sales teams to ensure their requirements are met and that a strong team spirit is constantly reinforced

Key competencies and values

Previous supply chain and Inventory management experience.
