Lapicida - Montpellier Ivory Kitchen floor

COOL CONTEMPORARY CONTRAST

A premium handmade kitchen company in Newark created this stunning, highly contemporary kitchen for one of their clients.

The designer wanted to offset the bold teal kitchen cabinetry with a soft, natural looking floor surface. They achieved this by specifying Lapicida Montpellier Ivory tiles which have the look and beauty of natural stone but with the inherent strength and durability of new-generation porcelain. The surface is interesting too as it has the texture and irregular edges of natural stone. That is what makes it look so effortlessly natural.

NATURALLY STYLISH AND SPACIOUS

The same designers have also demonstrated the breadth of their design prowess with this expansive kitchen. With a space this large, light plays a big part in the design considerations.

The client wanted an airy and inviting kitchen and to ensure this, the designer selected Lapicida Windsor White which is an elegant creamy-white porcelain tile that captures the beauty and grace of natural stone. This particular tile offers great design flexibility as it is available in the large 1200mm square format used here and smaller 900mm and 600mm options. Plus, there are three different finishes available dependent on tile size – silk textured and soft used here.

Lapicida - Med Stone D'Or Kitchen Floor

MEDITERRANEAN MEETS MARBLE

One luxury handcrafted kitchen maker made a very considered choice of floor for this large light and airy kitchen and dining area.

Inspired by the subtle stone hues of the sun-drenched Mediterranean landscape, Med Stone Dor is an Italian porcelain created using new-generation production techniques that create an authentic texture to replicate aged limestone. Its surface and edges, seemingly worn by time, give real depth and personality.

The designer also instructed the installer to lay the tiles using two different format tiles to create a staggered brickwork pattern for a more traditional look.

To complete the look, above the cooker, the designer commissioned a bespoke San Marino Classic marble slab splashback which has wonderful veining, from greys and blacks to rusty browns. The overall effect is timeless and natural.

BEAUTY FLOWS THROUGHOUT

We love this luxury boutique style renovation of Fountain’s House – an 18th century barn located near Pateley Bridge in Nidderdale, North Yorkshire.

The project, created by a Harrogate-based interior design team, involved multiple Lapicida floor and wall surfaces.

The focal point though is the kitchen which has breath-taking views over the Yorkshire Dales.

After a visit to our Harrogate showroom, the co-designers agreed that they wanted a natural look for the floor which would flow through the kitchen and living space and complement the exposed Yorkshire stone walls. Montpellier Beige porcelain was an excellent choice. Not only does it perfectly emulate the appearance and texture of natural stone, it is perfectly suited to high traffic areas such as a rural kitchen. Being tough, stain resistant, easy to clean and virtually maintenance-free, it is as inherently practical as it is beautiful.

Lapicida - Antique Jerusalem Kitchen Floor

WALKING ON HISTORY

Stone floors create a character of their own over time. For this kitchen at a private residence, the designer introduced their client to Lapicida Genuine Antique Jerusalem reclaimed limestone.

They were obviously captivated by its patina and provenance which developed over 500 to 1,500 years at its previous home on the streets and in the fine residences around Jerusalem, including Bethlehem.

This rare historic stone originates from the Hebron mountains of Israel and has been carefully reclaimed by Lapicida craftsman. The result is a wonderfully warm looking stone floor surface, with random sized tiles and lovely colour variance. A piece of history that is as unique as its story.

COOL, CALM, CLEAN & HYGIENIC

This luxury bespoke handmade kitchen which is large, spacious and contemporary in its design.

The choice of dark natural timber and bold blue hand-painted cabinetry with a bold black traditional AGA cooker works perfectly, especially when combined with the Lapicida Illusion White porcelain floor from our Eternal Collection. Its chalky white tones bring an air of calm, whilst the impressions of fossil shells, limestone veins and mineral nuances, reproduced in high definition, add interest. They have a hidden superpower, too. These new-generation porcelain tiles have an invisible antibacterial shield, infused into the surface, that creates a permanent, protective layer eliminating up to 99.9% of bacteria.

As technically advanced as the floor is attractive, this advanced hygiene feature couldn’t be better suited to kitchens. Interestingly, Eternal’s antibacterial shield is also weather-resistant, so it can be used for floors and walls, inside and out – it is even available in a slab format, perfect for work surfaces.

Lapicida - Nero Parquet Kitchen Floor

POWERFUL PARQUET STATEMENT

Black is a bold choice for a kitchen, yet this bespoke furniture designer, maker and installer pulled it off with aplomb in this contemporary kitchen larder and wine cellar.

The charcoal-coloured cabinetry and black Crittall doors key perfectly with the Lapicida Nero Parquet tiles. This dramatic black limestone originates from Asia and has a wonderfully characterful distressed finish.

Arranged in a classic parquet pattern, contrasting grout lines emphasise the natural irregularities of the tile and give the floor direction. It’s the perfect example of how to take a small functional room and give it a truly spectacular look.
