Job Title: Fabrication Production Manager  

Reporting to: Head of Operations

Location: Harrogate 

Overview:

This key role within the business requires a candidate with a strong hands on technical knowledge and a detailed understanding of CNC and stone cutting machinery as well as material knowledge to eliminate wastage.
Working within a busy and fast growing business the individual must be able to multi task, prioritise and react with maturity to ensure that high standards are maintained at all times
They must gain the respect of the team through effective and strong leadership, working with the Head of Operations to give us a robust costing methodology and drive improved efficiency.
Health and Safety must be prioritized at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

To oversee the planning, production scheduling and fabrication, with an emphasis on quality control, for the business.

With a strong focus on H&S, ensure that machinery is clean and well maintained ensuring we maximize operational hours.

Take corrective action and develop a clear maintenance programme for all machinery so that it is always operational

Have clear operational measurements in place to set targets and monitor machine effectiveness

Ensure that actual fabrication time is fed back to the system to capture variations to standard costing.

Utilise the actual data to improve the accuracy of estimated time used in quoting for new products.

Work in close contact with other departments to ensure clear and transparent planning of orders for accurate order updates to customers.

Key Result Areas & Responsibilities:

• Uphold best practice of H&S throughout the estate reinforcing the company guidelines and lead by example

• Work with the Head of Operations and third party H&S provider to achieve ever increasing standards of awareness and reduced accident levels

• Develop clear scheduling methodology to allow transparency across the business of production schedule

• Liaise with associated and dependent departments to ensure planning ties in with material, template and drawing availability to meet the production timelines

• Set up procedure for template storage with clear labelling, project details and booking in system so that fabrication efficiency is enhanced

• Effective planning and management of machine time in all areas of production to gain maximum through put and best use of technical capabilities

• Review KPIs for each machine with the Head of Operations to ensure variances to standard are explained and acted upon

• For all planned fabrication throughput, ensure that drawings are assessed for viability to ensure that the company is able to produce to expectations and has the technical ability to produce the very highest quality items at quote stage

• Develop robust workflow methodology and ensure that this is monitored and adhered to

• Establish suitable quality control checks throughout the fabrication process to ensure exemplary standards are met

• Develop and maintain a maintenance plan.

• Establish clear training programmes for all team members so that knowledge is effectively shared and team members can move between areas as required

• Demonstrate strong leadership and develop the team within the area based on company goals and objectives

• Set standards of accountability and responsibility in all team members;

• Seeks ways to improve the area and work with the Heads of Operations to introduce new working practices;

Experience of running a multi-disciplined production facility
