This Arabescato Orobico slab is a highly expressive Italian marble, distinguished by sweeping layers of silver-grey, charcoal, soft white and warm taupe. Its broad, undulating veins flow horizontally across the surface, forming a dramatic composition reminiscent of folded rock, moving water and mountainous landscapes.
Quarried in Val Brembana, in the Orobian Alps north of Bergamo, this rare stone originated from ancient Triassic marine sediments. Over time, geological movement, fracturing, mineral alteration and natural recrystallisation created its intricate banding and characteristic arabesque pattern. Each slab reveals a unique record of this geological transformation.
The strong directional movement of this particular slab makes it especially suited to large, uninterrupted surfaces and book-matched installations. Used as a feature material, Arabescato Orobico brings depth, sophistication and a distinctly sculptural quality to both contemporary and classical interiors.
