Lapicida Joins RIBA Approved CPD Providers Network
Lapicida is now an accredited member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) CPD Providers Network. The company is officially permitted to deliver RIBA-approved CPD to architects and other specifiers.
Our first CPD focuses on Tile Slip Resistance and Specification Considerations – a really important and growing topic across the stone and tile industry. Our presentation material has been rigorously assessed by RIBA, and is receiving a good level of interest among architects as well as interior designers and tile retailers.
Designed to help architects and other building design professionals understand the importance of selecting safe, slip resistant tile and stone products, Lapicida’s CPD provides a detailed explanation of material properties affecting slip resistance.
It presents an insight into the testing methods used for rating tile slip resistance, as well as exploring the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) accepted testing methods and ratings. It is an opportunity for attendees to discuss key considerations when specifying tile and stone products for design and build projects they are involved in.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT FOR ARCHITECTS TO ATTEND?
RIBA Chartered Architects must undertake a minimum of 35 hours of Continuing Professional Development – otherwise known as CPD, to maintain competence levels. Of these 35 hours, 20 must cover material included in the ‘RIBA CPD Core Curriculum’.
Lapicida’s 'Tile Slip Resistance and Specification Considerations' presentation is categorised under two core curriculum groups: ‘Design, Construction and Technology’, and ‘Health, Safety and Wellbeing’.
The RIBA CPD Core Curriculum was established by RIBA to help architects develop essential skills through accredited learning programs. The CPD material developed by members of the RIBA CPD Providers Network is classified as core curriculum material.
WHY SLIP RESISTANCE?
Slips and trips are one of the most common causes of injury. As a general learning seminar, Lapicida’s CPD is not only ideal for architects, but is useful for anyone looking to extend their knowledge of natural stone and manmade tiles, and how different types of hard surfaces should be specified.
In the future, we are looking to extend the session to include a factory tour of Lapicida’s Head Quarters in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire. Where participants will have the opportunity to look round our three acre site, including the manufacturing facility and impressive showroom.
