LAPICIDA IN NEW YEAR HONOURS
We are delighted to announce that Lapicida has been selected for highlight in The English Home New Year Honours List 2019 ‘All Finishes’ category for our Bluetta Bookmatch porcelain.
The list is featured in the January 2019 edition of The English Home magazine which can be viewed here in our Journal.
Now in its fourth year, The English Home New Year Honours List is a special editorial project that recognises notable interior products and people. We are understandably incredibly pleased to receive such an important accolade.
Bluetta Bookmatch was chosen for its ability to mimic the luxurious use of bookmatched marble. Writing about the product in the article, the judges comment “we highlight and applaud the launch with this award, because not only is porcelain an alternative to a finite natural resource, it is also a much more cost-effective choice.”
Part of a new collection, Bluetta Bookmatch is just one product in the highly successful ARTIS by Lapicida range which was launched earlier this year. ARTIS is a new collection of aesthetically beautiful, high quality marble, stone wood and concrete effect porcelains. Ultra-contemporary and perfectly suited to modern day living, ARTIS porcelains provide an authentic, durable and affordable alternative to traditional natural surfaces.
2018 has been a very exciting year of new Lapicida product launches. Here are some of our favourites:
Famous for its antique stone floors, which are reclaimed from historic buildings all over Europe, Lapicida has been working with a leading porcelain manufacturer to develop a perfect look-alike. Called Villasse, the new collection has the authentic look and feel of an ancient limestone. Designed to be used either on their own, or in conjunction with antique flooring, Villasse tiles offer the advantage of being very much lighter and, with a depth of just 10mm, far thinner than reclaimed stone. Easy to install, they are non-porous and maintenance-free.
Exclusive to Lapicida, the new Misto ceramic wall tiles are handmade in the Azulejo tin-glaze tradition, which originates from the 13th Century and is often seen in Spain and Portugal. Today, a new look at this ancient art form is rediscovering its decorative appeal for modern interiors. In tune with tradition, Misto tiles are hand-moulded and hand-glazed, giving all the characteristic irregularities and variations typical of artisan production. The blue and white design is a contemporary take on classical themes, mixing together patterned ‘fragments’ to make each wall a completely unique installation.
Lapicida’s new Mediterranean Collection takes its inspiration from vintage and classic designs. These are interpreted onto new-generation ceramics, which are tough, hardwearing and easy to maintain. There are six different products within the collection – Alhambra Forza, Cordoba Cream, Cordoba Visconti, Lisbon, Porto Décor and Porto Plain – with patterns and plains designed to co-ordinate. From traditional blue and white patterns to decorative terracotta tones, the colour palette is easy and natural, ideal for both walls and floors.
Used for thousands of years to create decorative walls and floors, mosaic is a classic finish. Now, Lapicida turns a modern eye to the concept, introducing new geometric mosaics in Italian natural marbles and limestones. Colours range from pure whites through soft greys to rich blacks, tobacco browns and mossy greens.
The Mosaic Collection offers forty-seven different mosaics, each offering unique decorative potential. Many of the patterns match or co-ordinate and several come in different sizes. They can also be used to create design details within areas of plain stone.
Finally, our latest new arrival is Montpellier Taupe – a new product exclusive to Lapicida in the UK. Reminiscent of Genuine Antique Barr de Montpellier, it is a perfect blend of modernity and tradition. It has the enduring charm, beauty and strength of ancient stone, yet the practicality and efficiency of new-generation porcelain. You’ll be hearing much more about this most versatile of products in 2019.
