Terracotta
Terracotta is Italian for: "baked earth" from the Latin terra cocta and is a clay-based unglazed ceramic A special prepared clay is partially dried and cast, molded, or hand worked into the desired shape. After further drying it is placed in a kiln and then fired. After pit firing the hot ware is covered with sand to cool, and after kiln firing the kiln is slowly cooled.
Terracotta tiles provide a perfect warm and inviting floor finish for all parts of the home. The very fact that terracotta continues to be a popular floor tile, is testament to it’s exceptional durability and timeless beauty.
