Marble
Metamorphised limestone – ‘marble’ is colloquially used to refer to many other stones that can be highly polished. The extreme temperatures and pressures necessary to form marble usually destroy any fossils and sedimentary textures present in original rock.
Marble is available in a myriad of colours, however, pure white marble is unusual and highly prized. The characteristic swirls and veins of many coloured marble varieties are due to various mineral impurities such as clay, silt and iron oxides. Marble occurs naturally in many parts of the world, including Greece, Italy, Turkey and Spain.
Lapicida specialises in bookmatching marble slabs and large format tiles that accentuate the stone’s natural beauty, creating drama within any home. Marble baths are also available.
